Parry Technology and Media LLC, doing business as Chive, provides this policy for consumer health data handled through Chive. This includes information that identifies or can reasonably be linked to your health status or health-related dietary needs.
We collect allergies, dietary restrictions and other health information you choose to enter in your food profile; calorie and protein targets; and health information you include in recipe searches, imported photos, text or dictation, meal plans and notes. Not every recipe or food preference is health data. We treat it as health data when it describes or reveals your health or health-related needs.
These details come from you, content you choose to import, and information shared with you by members of your Kitchen. We also derive structured dietary preferences from your description and recipe nutrition from ingredients. We process this information to provide the features you request: finding and personalizing recipes, importing and verifying recipe information, showing nutrition, and creating plans and shared grocery lists. Your account and activity records may link these details to you.
Our hosting and storage providers, Vercel and Neon, process information needed to operate Chive. Railway runs import and nutrition workers that process imported content. OpenAI processes food-profile descriptions, search phrases and imported content for the AI features you use. OpenAI and Anthropic also process recipe and ingredient information when additional nutrition review is needed. AI providers receive the content needed for their task; we do not include your Chive account ID in those review requests. Submitted content can itself identify you.
Other members of your Kitchen receive the plans, notes and grocery content you share there. Your food profile and private imports are not automatically shared with Kitchen members. No other affiliate of Chive receives consumer health data in the current service. We do not sell consumer health data or authorize third parties to use it for advertising or tracking you across unrelated websites and services.
You can ask us to confirm and provide access to your consumer health data, identify its recipients and their contact methods, correct information, withdraw consent to collection or sharing, or delete it. Email support@chive.recipes using the subject “Consumer health data request.” Identify your Chive account and the action requested; you do not need to include medical details. We will verify your identity using information reasonably needed for the request, without requiring you to create a new account.
You can also edit or clear your profile and targets, withdraw consent for new AI imports, delete individual private recipes, or delete your account in Chive. Turning personalization off stops its use; it does not delete existing data. For a request involving health information in shared Kitchen content or provider copies, contact us so we can coordinate the request.
We respond without undue delay and within 45 days. If permitted and reasonably necessary, we may extend this once by 45 days and explain why within the initial period. To appeal a refusal, reply to our decision or email the same address with the subject “Consumer health data appeal.” We respond to appeals within 45 days and explain our decision. If denied, we provide a way to contact your state attorney general. We do not discriminate against you for exercising these rights; features that require withdrawn information may no longer work.
We update the date above when this policy changes. Before collecting or sharing additional categories of consumer health data, or using it for additional purposes, we will notify affected users through Chive or email and obtain any consent required by applicable law.
