  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 3/4 cups white granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup baking cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne
  • Pinch of allspice
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup plus 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1/3 cup plus 1 tablespoon warm water
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups unsalted butter
  • 3 cups powdered sugar (you might need a tablespoon or two more for the jamaica flavor, sifted)
  • 1 teaspoon milk or heavy cream
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tablespoons reserved agua de jamaica (see above for recipe)
  • 1/2 vanilla bean (scraped or 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract or paste)
