  • Pinch cayenne pepper (or hot paprika (optional))
  • 3 cups beef broth (low-sodium, recommended)
  • 3 Tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 cloves garlic (crushed)
  • 1/2 teaspoon brown sugar ((optional))
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper (to taste)
  • 1/4 - 1/3 cup sour cream (at room temperature)
