  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup black beans (rinsed and drained if using canned)
  • green onions (chopped, for serving)
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup polenta (I used Bob's Red Mill)
  • 6 ounces sharp cheddar cheese (shredded)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2-4 tablespoons butter (your preference)
